In
addition to providing survivor benefits, The Heroes of Denton County works
to foster community support and recognition for each of the Law
Enforcement Officers, Firefighters and Telecommunicators that Denton County
is so
fortunate to have.
|
|
Because we must prepare for a brighter future as
well, The Heroes of Denton County sponsors an annual, and ongoing,
Scholarship Program
for High School Juniors and Seniors within Denton County who are closely
related to a current, or a retired, Denton County Public Safety
Officer. It is one of
our most positive endeavors.
This
$1,500 Scholarship will be awarded from the best submission based
on the the theme,
“The Hero, or Heroes, of My Life.” The theme
may be expressed through any of the following, although not limited to:
original essay, poetry, prose, song or visual art form. Performance of
original song, dance or reading may be presented through videotape.

Scholarship Award Winner, Preston Losack
Preston is the son of Carrollton P.D. Sgt. Mike and Mary Losack, father and step-mother,
and Ms. Jeani Vick, mother. He graduated in 2009 from Creek View High School and anticipates beginning studies in Music Education at Oklahoma City University.
